    Amsterdam, Bruges & Brussels

    Duration8 Days
    CountryBelgium, Netherlands

Rarely do three cities so close together feel so different: the canal ring and Dutch masters of Amsterdam, the medieval lanes and waterways of Bruges, the guild houses of the Grand Place in Brussels. Your group sees each with a local guide and adds what a faster tour skips, from the windmills of Zaanse Schans and Delft to the Ghent Altarpiece.

    Day by Day

    1

    Day 1

    Arrival in Amsterdam

Your group lands at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, where a BRACAP representative is waiting for the private transfer into the city. After check-in, an early-evening cruise glides along the canal ring, a UNESCO landscape of gabled merchant houses and arched bridges lit up at dusk. A welcome dinner in the old centre opens the journey through the Low Countries. Overnight in Amsterdam.

    2

    Day 2

    Dutch Masters & the Jordaan

Breakfast, then a local guide leads the group from Dam Square and the Royal Palace through the canal belt to the Jordaan, a quarter of narrow lanes, hidden courtyards and houseboats. In the afternoon the Rijksmuseum brings the Golden Age face to face, with the paintings of Rembrandt and Vermeer at its heart. The evening is free along the canals. Overnight in Amsterdam.

    3

    Day 3

    Zaanse Schans Windmills & Delft

After breakfast the coach heads north to Zaanse Schans, where wooden windmills line the river Zaan and the group steps inside one still at work. The road then runs south to Delft, the town of Vermeer and blue-and-white pottery, for a walk around the Market Square between the New Church and the town hall. The group returns to Amsterdam by evening. Overnight in Amsterdam.

    4

    Day 4

Antwerp on the Way to Bruges

Breakfast and check-out, then the road crosses into Belgium to Antwerp, city of Rubens and diamonds, for lunch and a walk from the Grote Markt and its guild houses to the Cathedral of Our Lady. The drive continues west through Flanders to Bruges, reached in the late afternoon, with a first stroll to the Markt under the Belfry. Overnight in Bruges.

    5

    Day 5

    Bruges, Canals & Belfry

Breakfast, then a local guide leads the group through medieval Bruges: the Markt and its Belfry, the Burg square with the Basilica of the Holy Blood, and the quiet Beguinage by the Minnewater. A boat trip on the canals shows the city from the water. The afternoon is free for chocolate shops, lace or the Flemish Primitives in the Groeninge Museum. Overnight in Bruges.

    6

    Day 6

    Ghent's Mystic Lamb to Brussels

After breakfast the coach runs east to Ghent, where a local guide leads the group into St Bavo's Cathedral to see the Ghent Altarpiece, the Adoration of the Mystic Lamb painted by the Van Eyck brothers. The walk continues past the Gravensteen castle to the Graslei and Korenlei quays on the Leie. In the afternoon the road leads on to Brussels. Overnight in Brussels.

    7

    Day 7

    Grand Place & the Atomium

Breakfast, then a local guide leads the group around the Grand Place, framed by the Town Hall and gilded guild houses, on to the Manneken Pis, the Royal Saint-Hubert Galleries and the Mont des Arts. In the afternoon the coach crosses to the Atomium, the steel atom built for the 1958 World's Fair. A farewell dinner closes the journey. Overnight in Brussels.

    8

    Day 8

    Farewell from Brussels

Breakfast, then free time until the agreed hour for a last Belgian waffle, a visit to the Sablon chocolatiers or a walk through the Royal Park. A private transfer then takes the group to Brussels Airport, closing a week that ran from the canals of Amsterdam to the guild houses of the Grand Place. End of our services.
