    Normandy & Mont Saint-Michel

    Duration5 Days
    CountryFrance

History is taught where it happened on this 5-day journey through Normandy's defining chapters — 1066 stitched into the Bayeux Tapestry, 1944 written on the sands of Omaha. The landing beaches of the Calvados coast and the island abbey of Mont Saint-Michel await, met with the depth and respect these places deserve.

    Day by Day

    1

    Day 1

    Arrival in Normandy via Rouen

Your group lands at Paris Charles de Gaulle, where your BRACAP Tour Manager is waiting. The coach heads west into Normandy with a stop in Rouen — time to stroll the medieval quarter, see the Gothic cathedral Monet painted more than thirty times, and stand in the square where Joan of Arc was tried. The day closes in Bayeux with a welcome group dinner.

    2

    Day 2

    D-Day Beaches & American Cemetery

A day given over to the events of 6 June 1944. With a licensed guide, your group walks Omaha Beach and the shell-scarred clifftop of Pointe du Hoc, then pauses among the more than 9,000 white headstones of the Normandy American Cemetery above the shore. The afternoon visit to the memorial museum in Caen sets the landings in the wider story of the war. A quiet, unforgettable day.

    3

    Day 3

    Bayeux & Arromanches

The morning belongs to the Bayeux Tapestry — nearly 70 metres of eleventh-century embroidery narrating the Norman conquest of England, a primary source your group can read scene by scene. After lunch in Bayeux's old town, the coach reaches Arromanches, where the remains of the Mulberry harbour still rest offshore. The evening brings a tasting of Norman cider and cheeses — Camembert, Livarot and Pont-l'Évêque.

    4

    Day 4

Mont Saint-Michel — Wonder of the West

An early start for the drive to Mont Saint-Michel, rising from a bay swept by some of the highest tides in Europe. A guided visit climbs through the village and ramparts to the Benedictine abbey at the summit, a thousand years of pilgrimage in stone. There is free time on the Mont before returning to Bayeux, where a farewell group dinner closes the evening.

    5

    Day 5

    Farewell Normandy & Departure

After a final Norman breakfast there is time for a last stroll through Bayeux before the coach heads back to Paris Charles de Gaulle. Your BRACAP Tour Manager coordinates the transfer and assists with check-in and luggage, leaving your group with five days of history that no classroom — and no brochure — could ever match.
