    Fjords & Baltic Legends

    Duration16 Days
CountryNorway, Denmark, Sweden, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania

Two overnight ferry crossings link the two halves of this 16-day journey: Copenhagen's canals, Oslo and Bergen's fjord coast on one side of the Baltic, Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius on the other. Seven cities and six countries, with guided panoramic visits in every one and free afternoons keeping the balance between structure and open time.

    Day by Day

    1

    Day 1

    Arrival in Copenhagen & Strøget

Arrival in Copenhagen opens the journey, with local staff meeting the group and a private transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day stays open: some of the group rest after the long trip, others head straight for Strøget, the lively pedestrian street that runs through the heart of the Danish capital. Overnight in Copenhagen.

    2

    Day 2

    Little Mermaid & Nyhavn Colours

Breakfast, then an official guide leads a panoramic visit through the Danish capital: the Little Mermaid on her rock, the royal residence of Amalienborg, the Gefion Fountain and the painted facades and historic boats of Nyhavn. The afternoon is free, with an optional canal cruise toward Christiania or an evening among the lights of Tivoli. Overnight in Copenhagen.

    3

    Day 3

    Kattegat Crossing to Norway

A free morning allows last purchases in the historic centre or a coffee by the canals, with optional visits to Rosenborg Castle and the Crown Jewels or a walk through the Scandinavian design district. In the afternoon a private transfer reaches the maritime terminal and the group boards the overnight ferry, sailing the Kattegat toward Norway. Overnight on board in private cabins.

    4

    Day 4

    Oslo Fjord & Vigeland Park

Breakfast on board arrives as the ship threads the Oslo Fjord, a hundred kilometres of wooded hills and small islands dotted with painted houses. Local staff meet the group at the terminal and a panoramic visit follows: Vigeland Park and its granite and bronze sculptures, the Opera House rising from the water like white marble, and the City Hall of the Nobel Peace Prize. Overnight in Oslo.

    5

    Day 5

    Mountain Roads to the Fjords

Breakfast, then the capital gives way to the wildest part of Norway. A private coach climbs onto high plateaus and drops through glacier-cut valleys, past waterfalls falling from vertiginous heights along one of the most visual routes in Europe. Sea air and mountains announce the west coast and the fjord region. Transfer to the hotel and overnight near Bergen.

    6

    Day 6

    Bryggen Wharf & Fish Market

Breakfast opens a day in the city many consider the most beautiful in Norway. A panoramic visit begins at Bryggen, the UNESCO wharf whose coloured wooden houses lean into one another, and continues through hidden alleys of the Hanseatic era to the Fish Market, where the smell of the sea and the local bustle create a singular atmosphere. Free afternoon, with an optional ride up the Fløibanen funicular. Overnight in Bergen.

    7

    Day 7

    Fjord Coast at Leisure

A second day on the Norwegian west coast with no fixed programme. The morning suits the old Hanseatic alleys behind the wharf, the afternoon the viewpoints above the harbour, and the local restaurants serve the catch of the day. Optional excursions run out toward the wider fjord landscape. Overnight in Bergen.

    8

    Day 8

    Onward to Stockholm's Island City

Breakfast, and the morning is given to the transfer that carries your group from the Norwegian coast on to Sweden. Stockholm waits at the other end, a majestic city spread across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic. Local staff welcome the group on arrival and a private transfer runs to the hotel, leaving the afternoon free. Overnight in Stockholm.

    9

    Day 9

    Gamla Stan & Fjällgatan Views

Breakfast, then a local guide leads the panoramic visit through Gamla Stan, the best preserved medieval old town in Europe. The route passes the Royal Palace and the City Hall where the Nobel banquet is held, and climbs to the Fjällgatan viewpoint for the widest panorama of Stockholm and its archipelago. The afternoon is free, with an optional visit to the Vasa Museum and Skansen. Overnight in Stockholm.

    10

    Day 10

    Swedish Archipelago by Night

A free morning suits the elegant boutiques of the centre or a walk along the water, with an optional excursion to Drottningholm Palace across Lake Mälaren. In the afternoon a private transfer reaches the terminal and the group boards the overnight ferry to Estonia. The ship threads the Swedish archipelago, a maze of islands under one of the finest sunsets in Europe. Overnight on board.

    11

    Day 11

Toompea Hill & Town Hall Square

Breakfast on board arrives with Estonian waters and one of the best preserved medieval cities in the world. Local staff meet the group and a walking visit begins inside the old town, ringed by walls and watchtowers. The climb to Toompea opens the view over the red roofs, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral raises its onion domes, and the walk ends in Town Hall Square. Overnight in Tallinn.

    12

    Day 12

    Free Day in Medieval Tallinn

Breakfast opens a free day with nothing scheduled. The hidden corners of this storybook city, the craft shops of wool and amber and an atmosphere that seems held in place fill the hours as your group chooses. Optional excursions run to Kadriorg Palace and the Kumu art museum, or out to Lahemaa National Park for manor houses, pine forest and white sand coast. Overnight in Tallinn.

    13

    Day 13

Pärnu Beaches & Gulf of Riga

Breakfast, then private transport heads south along the road that skirts the Gulf of Riga. A stop in Pärnu, the summer capital of Estonia, brings white sand beaches and nineteenth-century wooden architecture. The route crosses into Latvia and reaches its majestic capital in the afternoon, leaving time for the cafés and the nightlife of this Baltic metropolis. Overnight in Riga.

    14

    Day 14

    Art Nouveau & Blackheads House

Breakfast, then the panoramic visit crosses the city that holds the largest collection of Art Nouveau buildings in the world. The route runs through the historic centre, pausing at the Cathedral and at the richly decorated facade of the House of the Blackheads. The afternoon is free for the squares and parks, with an optional canal cruise or a train ride out to Jūrmala. Overnight in Riga.

    15

    Day 15

    Hill of Crosses & Vilnius

Breakfast, then the road turns south for the Lithuanian border. The journey pauses at the Hill of Crosses, one of the most moving sanctuaries in Europe, where hundreds of thousands of crosses left by pilgrims mark a long history of peaceful resistance. Paths run between them in near silence. The route continues to Vilnius and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Vilnius.

    16

    Day 16

    Vilnius Baroque & Farewell Dinner

Breakfast, then the panoramic visit crosses one of the largest old towns in eastern Europe. Saint Stanislaus Cathedral, the delicate Gothic facade of Saint Anne's Church that Napoleon admired and the Gate of Dawn with the country's most venerated icon mark the route. The afternoon is free along Gediminas Avenue, and the evening closes with the farewell dinner in a traditional restaurant.
