    Camino de Santiago Highlights

    Duration8 Days
    CountrySpain

The world's most storied pilgrimage unfolds at a gentle pace between the market town of Sarria and the granite towers of Santiago de Compostela. Handpicked stages of the Camino Francés carry your group along the final stretch — short guided walks, a support coach always nearby, and the pilgrim's certificate waiting at the end of the road.

    Day by Day

    1

    Day 1

    Arrival in Green Galicia

Your group arrives in Galicia, where your BRACAP Tour Manager is waiting for the coach transfer to Sarria, the traditional starting point of the final Camino stages. After check-in at your centrally located 4★ hotel, pilgrim credentials are handed out over a relaxed briefing on the week ahead. In the evening, everyone gathers for a welcome group dinner of hearty Galician cooking. Overnight in Sarria.

    2

    Day 2

    Sarria to Portomarín

The walking begins gently after breakfast, following the scallop-shell waymarks out of Sarria and into oak woods and stone-walled farm lanes. The morning's stage covers an easy stretch of the Camino Francés, with the support coach never far away for anyone preferring to ride. After lunch, a visit to Portomarín's fortress-church of San Nicolás closes the day. Overnight in Portomarín.

    3

    Day 3

    Portomarín to Palas de Rei

A morning stage climbs steadily through pine and eucalyptus towards the high point at Sierra Ligonde, passing hamlets where cattle still share the road with pilgrims. Your Tour Manager sets an unhurried pace with plenty of pauses, and the coach shortens the walk for whoever wants it. The afternoon winds down over coffee in the arcaded main square of Palas de Rei. Overnight locally.

    4

    Day 4

    Melide & the Octopus Tradition

Today's gentle stage crosses medieval bridges and shaded creeks on the way to Melide, the town where two Camino routes meet — and where Galicia's most famous dish is served. Lunch is a traditional pulperia tasting of pulpo á feira, octopus dusted with paprika on wooden plates, included for the whole group. The afternoon stays free to explore. Overnight in Melide.

    5

    Day 5

    Melide to Arzúa

Breakfast, then one of the loveliest stretches of the route: eucalyptus groves, streams crossed on stepping stones and the constant company of pilgrims from around the world. The stage ends in Arzúa, famous across Spain for its creamy Arzúa-Ulloa cheese, with a tasting stop at a local producer. The evening is free among the town's pilgrim cafés. Overnight in Arzúa.

    6

    Day 6

    Arzúa to O Pedrouzo

The penultimate stage rolls through quiet farmland and chestnut woods, the towers of Santiago drawing closer with every kilometre. Villages along the way serve mid-morning coffee, and the support coach meets the group at agreed points. By afternoon your group reaches O Pedrouzo, the last overnight stop before the finish, with time to rest legs and raise a toast. Overnight in O Pedrouzo.

    7

    Day 7

    Arrival in Santiago de Compostela

The final morning climbs to Monte do Gozo, the Mount of Joy, where pilgrims first glimpse the cathedral spires. From there it is a triumphant walk into the old city and across Praza do Obradoiro. After the pilgrim's mass, your group receives its pilgrim's certificate in a small ceremony, and the evening's celebration dinner honours the achievement. Overnight in Santiago.

    8

    Day 8

    Farewell to Santiago

After breakfast there is time for the Mercado de Abastos, Santiago's wonderful food market, or a last wander through the granite arcades of the old town. Your BRACAP Tour Manager then coordinates all transfers to Santiago airport, closing eight days on the world's most storied pilgrimage route — walked, shared and earned together. End of our services.
