    Malta & Gozo, Knights' Islands

    Duration6 Days
    CountryMalta

A single hotel on the Sliema waterfront keeps this week simple, because nothing in Malta is far: your group walks Valletta with a licensed guide, from St John's Co-Cathedral and its Caravaggio to the Saluting Battery, then reaches Mdina, the Three Cities and the Blue Grotto. A full day on Gozo adds the Citadel of Victoria and the temples of Ġgantija.

    Day by Day

    1

    Day 1

    Arrival in Malta

Your group lands at Malta International Airport, where a BRACAP representative is waiting for the short transfer to the hotel. After check-in, the evening leads to the Upper Barrakka Gardens in Valletta for a first view over the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities, followed by a welcome dinner of Maltese specialities. Overnight in Malta.

    2

    Day 2

    Valletta, City of the Knights

Breakfast, then a licensed guide leads the group through Valletta, the fortified capital built by the Knights of St John and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. St John's Co-Cathedral reveals its gilded interior and Caravaggio's Beheading of Saint John, followed by the Grandmaster's Palace. At noon, Monday to Saturday, the salute gun fires from the Saluting Battery. Overnight in Malta.

    3

    Day 3

    Mdina & the Three Cities

After breakfast the coach heads inland to Mdina, the Silent City, whose walls and palaces crown a ridge above the island, and to the catacombs of neighbouring Rabat. In the afternoon the group crosses to Birgu, one of the Three Cities, and returns across the Grand Harbour in a traditional dgħajsa boat. Overnight in Malta.

    4

    Day 4

    Gozo, the Sister Island

Breakfast, then a ferry from Ċirkewwa to Mġarr opens a full day on Gozo, greener and quieter than Malta. The guide leads the group to the Citadel of Victoria, the prehistoric temples of Ġgantija, older than the pyramids of Egypt, and the cliffs of Dwejra, before an afternoon on the red sand of Ramla Bay. Overnight in Malta.

    5

    Day 5

    Blue Grotto & Marsaxlokk

After breakfast the coach runs south to Wied iż-Żurrieq, where small boats slip into the Blue Grotto and its sea caves, weather permitting. The prehistoric temples of Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra stand on the cliffs nearby, and the afternoon ends in Marsaxlokk among the painted luzzu fishing boats. A farewell seafood dinner follows. Overnight in Malta.

    6

    Day 6

    Farewell to Malta

Breakfast, then free time until the agreed hour for a last walk along the Sliema seafront, facing the bastions of Valletta across Marsamxett Harbour, or a final coffee and pastizzi in the capital. A private transfer then takes the group to Malta International Airport. End of our services.
